POSITION SUMMARY

The Outpatient Therapist - Clinic provides professional outpatient therapy and mental health and crisis evaluations, as necessary. This position formulates diagnoses, develops treatment objectives with the participants, and collaborates with other department staff and community providers to effectively deliver quality behavioral health services.

We are particularly seeking one candidate who has experience and/or an interest in working with children and families.



 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Conducts focused mental health evaluations to assess and diagnose presenting problems; gathers information regarding symptoms, current and previous psychiatric medications, previous treatment or therapy, and other appliable data; recognizes the need for psychiatric consultation; evaluates clients for risk of harm to self or others; determines the need for hospitalization; conducts suicide assessments and devises appropriate intervention.
  • Applies expertise in cognitive/behavioral therapies and/or other evidence based therapeutic interventions to determine appropriate treatment method; provides and directs mental health therapy including individual, family, and group treatment; discharges patient when progress is accomplished.
  • Establishes and maintains a strong and positive therapeutic relationship with clients; provides an environment that offers privacy, safety, and acceptance to promote and enhance the individual’s feeling of dignity and self-respect.
  • Provides mental health screening, mediation, and crisis debriefing; aims to improve the quality of life for clients through encouragement, motivational interviewing, and other therapeutic tools to strengthen interpersonal and family relationships; provides ongoing client care coordination, with individual and agency monitoring. 
  • Employs team collaboration and contribution expertise; works in concert with the department staff to provide comprehensive mental health care for individuals. 
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

 

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • A Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or clinical psychology. 
  • Three thousand (3,000) hours post graduate work.
  • Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of criminal and caregiver background checks.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or ability to obtain license within two (2) years of hire and maintain thereafter during employment.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and access to private transportation for work-related duties.
  • Must possess and maintain personal automobile insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000.

DESIRED TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in Training (CSAC in Training).
