Salary: Starting Salary $84,337 and $88,608 after 1 year with successful evaluation.  Additionally this position is eligible for a $2600/yr Child Protective Services Stipend

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly capable Family & Children Services Supervisor to lead, coach and support frontline staff serving children, youth and families involved in child welfare and youth justice. With a strong focus on safety, permanency, well-being and family centered practice, this role serves as a critical leadership position for a professional committed to equity and achieving positive, sustainable outcomes for children youth and families.

About the Role

As a supervisor, you will provide strong, ethical leadership to multidisciplinary staff delivering child protection and youth justice services. You will balance accountability with empathy, ensuring high-quality practice, sound decision-making, and compliance with legislation and policy—while fostering a supportive and trauma-informed work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to Child Protection and Youth Justice practitioners
  • Guide complex case planning, risk assessment, and decision-making to ensure child and community safety
  • Promote best practice, cultural safety, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Monitor performance, workloads, and service outcomes
  • Support staff wellbeing, professional development, and reflective practice
  • Collaborate with courts, schools, police, community agencies, and families
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, ethical, and organizational requirements

About You

You are a confident and compassionate leader with a strong background in child protection and/or youth justice. You lead with integrity, resilience, and respect, and you are able to support staff working in high-pressure, emotionally demanding environments.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work or related degree, Masters in Social Work or related field preferred
  • 2 years of experience as a supervisor or 5 years of field experience in child welfare required.  Crawford County may consider a combination of education, experience and training that provides necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, or leading professional staff
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, risk assessment, and case management frameworks
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills
