POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides additional supervision for children/juveniles during evening and weekend hours to ensure they are following either their court orders or the rules of their supervision set in place by the Social Worker. This would be done by random visits to the home and at times requiring random drug tests. Sets up electronic monitoring services when necessary. Maintains consistent and proper supervision by having regular contact with the Children Services Social Workers / Case Managers.  Completes monthly reports to the Children Services Administrator and/or designee. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Sets up electronic monitoring services, including the placement and removal of devices and tracking of clients. 
  • Maintains daily log of job activities and hours.
  • Communicates and coordinates with parents of clients with electronic monitors.
  • Maintains contact with supervising workers.
  • Maintains electronic monitoring inventory and supplies.
  • Coordinates and conducts random home visits and performs random drug tests.
  • Completes monthly reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to perform detailed, accurate work independently within strict deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply County and State policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work assigned hours, including evenings and weekends. 
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations that affect the delivery of services provided by the Department.

  • Knowledge of applicable state statutes.
  • Knowledge of human development and behavior, family and group dynamics, and mental, physical and social dysfunctions.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity of cultural diversity, special population needs, and ability to consult effectively with staff regarding these factors. 
  • Ability to engage and support clients effectively in stressful or crisis situations. 
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, type accurately at a reasonable rate of speed, and perform word processing and/or data entry.

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with a wide range of individuals, including the public, colleagues, and supervisors. 
  • Ability to read County policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; MSDS sheets, safety manuals, maps, etc.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate mathematical calculations.

  • Ability to understand, interpret, and effectively follow verbal and written instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, using hands to handle, feel and perform fine motor skills and repetitive motions, and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Sufficient vision to perform tasks such as reading documents, operating vehicles, or working with detailed data. 
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels for tasks such as communicating with the public, colleagues, or over the phone. 
  • Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.
  • Frequent travel may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions, unsanitary conditions in homes, communicable illnesses and diseases and unsafe environments.
  • May require dealing with persons who are hostile, aggressive, abusive or violent, posing threatening conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Work is performed in an office setting as well as clients' and service providers' homes, and work sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

  • Associate or Technical degree in Human Services or related field.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENT

  • Must successfully pass criminal and caregiver background check.
