This is a specialized clerical support position in the Information Technology Department.  Employees in this class work under the supervision of the IT Director.  Employee performs a variety of skilled functions including front desk reception, user request intake, mailing, billing, deliveries, paying bills, scanning, inventory, and other supportive functions for the IT Department.  Employee in this class frequently uses independent judgment in carrying out duties pursuant to established County and departmental guidelines. This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.

Pay Range: $18.27-$21.81

Enters and properly documents customer intake requests for IT Services.  
 
Asks the proper questions to determine severity and next actions to take.  Directs the intake to the proper next level.

Moves about the downtown campus offices and travels to departments in remote locations such as Lakeview, Hillview, Libraries, Solid Waste and Highway to deliver and setup end user phones, computer devices and printers.    

Sorts and distributes all incoming La Crosse County mail. Processes shipping packages for delivery.  Receives and moves shipping packages to designated areas as required to inventory and prepare for deployment.
 
Operates and uses equipment including but not limited to: photocopiers, scanners, and multiple functional printers.

Prepares, images, and inventories computer devices for deployment.  
 
Prepares check requisitions, purchase orders, ETRs, posts and codes Bills using the financial system to proper accounts.
 
Runs Custom IT billing processes for printing, postage and VoIP.
 
Answers telephone, orders office supplies, files and keeps records.  Receives walk-ins for the office.
 
Performs data entry functions.  Performs routine and advanced word processing functions with above-average proficiency in using software systems.
 
Maintains and updates key department spreadsheets related to budget and inventory items.
 
This public service position, employee is required to be courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times, with the public and clients.  Also establishes and maintains a courteous, cooperative and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors and public officials.
 
Physical demands:  Approximately 50% of time sits at desk, uses hearing, near vision and fingering for keyboarding. Uses hearing, clear and concise oral communication to talk to computer users and department staff in person and on the telephone.   Uses near vision to read computer screens and printed material.  Remaining time is spent moving between the departments and buildings using verbal communication with users and department staff.  Sits, stands, bends, reaches, and moves about the office intermittently throughout the day.  Handles delivery of items, unboxing and stacking computer equipment. Frequently moves, lifts, and carries computers and associated equipment.  Occasionally stoops or kneels and carries items greater than 40 pounds.  Moves between campus buildings and remote sites to help deliver computer equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Considerable knowledge of up-to-date office methods and procedures.
•Considerable knowledge of business English, grammar, punctuation and spelling and ability to set up and draft correspondence.
•Ability to perform varied and difficult clerical tasks and to give instructions to the public in a clear and concise manner.
•Ability to make arithmetical computations and to keep a variety of records.
•Ability to meet, work with, and establish good working relationships with the public, County officials and other employees.
•Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
•Ability to work under limited supervision with attention to detail.
•Ability to work with confidential matters and keep confidentiality.


Training, Experience and Other Requirements
•Two years office/clerical experience.
•Strong preference for formal education in office management, business, accounting or information technology.
•Experience performing mailroom functions are a plus.
•Demonstrated competency in advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Products.
•High level of organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
